Erler-Zimmer GmbH & Co. KG Thyroid Lymphoma 3D Model:
- Model Number: MP2100
- Clinical history:
A 68-year-old woman presented with a small solid nodule in her thyroid. Over the next six weeks, the mass grew rapidly, causing laryngeal stridor and esophageal hoarseness, which were the thermal signs. There was no lymph node enlargement and no hepatomegaly was noted. - Pathology:
The specimen included the larynx, thyroid, upper trachea, and esophagus. The enlarged left thyroid ventricle and, to a lesser extent, the right ventricle were replaced by homogeneous pale tumor tissue. The common cardiac muscle was stretched over the lateral border of the left ventricle. Note on the medial side how the larynx is compressed and the esophagus is almost lost in the tumor mass. The histological appearance of the tumor was consistent with lymphoblastic lymphoma of the thyroid. The rarity of this tumor makes it necessary to exclude the diagnosis of anaplastic carcinoma of the thyroid and secondary spread from lymphoma elsewhere.
