Powder logistics, packaging and mechanical processing in industry require accurate data on the tendency of a material to compact. For example, when transporting powders by car or ship, their volume decreases due to constant vibration, which can lead to packaging defects or unexpected overfilling of production containers. In pharmaceuticals, the compressed density indicator is critical, as it directly correlates with the ability of the powder to evenly fill tablet pressing dies. The BeDensi T Pro series of testers has been designed to perform these measurements quickly, automatically and completely eliminating manual calculation errors by the operator.
The main technical advantage of this series is the strict standardization of mechanical parameters. Each measuring station uses a specially calibrated lifting mechanism that raises the measuring cylinder to a precisely defined height of 3 millimeters or 14 millimeters and allows it to fall freely, creating a standardized impact. The impact frequency is maintained with microprocessor-controlled precision, fully complying with the requirements of the International Pharmacopoeia (USP Section 616, EP) and European standards. Since different industrial sectors require different methodologies, the user can instantly switch to the required testing standard on the touch screen.
To ensure maximum laboratory productivity, Bettersize offers three models in this series. The BeDensi T1 Pro has a single cylinder slot and is ideal for small laboratories. The BeDensi T2 Pro and T3 Pro models have two or three stations, respectively, operating independently or in parallel. This allows for the simultaneous testing of multiple replicates of the same product or different samples, which drastically reduces the overall analysis time in large production laboratories where dozens of raw material batches are tested daily.
The processing of the results in the BeDensi T Pro series is completely digital. The operator weighs an empty cylinder, adds a powder sample, enters the initial volume and starts the program. After a set number of strokes (for example, 1250 or 2500 strokes), the user enters the final settled volume. The device processor automatically calculates and displays the bulk density, compacted density, Hausner ratio and Carr index. These last two indicators allow you to immediately classify the flow properties of the powder from excellent to very poor according to standardized industrial scales.
Special attention was paid to the comfort and safety of the working environment. Traditional compressed density testers generate a lot of annoying noise in the laboratory. The BeDensi T Pro uses advanced noise-canceling mechanisms, and for customers working with dusty or toxic pharmaceutical powders, a special sealed protective cabin with an integrated filtration port can be additionally ordered. All data generated by the device can be printed out on an external printer or directly transmitted to a laboratory information system (LIMS) via integrated communication interfaces.
