Setting up a seed bank requires not only powerful refrigeration equipment, but also complex zoning of the premises to avoid cross-contamination, moisture ingress or sudden temperature shocks. The Jiupo SPR solution includes rational planning and implementation of all necessary functional zones. Before entering the main storage facility, the seeds are processed in specialized cleaning, fumigation and drying rooms, which are designed together with the main climate room.

Strictly differentiated climate regimes are applied for different storage periods. For short-term storage, usually lasting up to five years, a microclimate of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius is created. In medium-term banks, oriented towards a period of ten or twenty years, the temperature is maintained around zero degrees, ensuring the preservation of genetic integrity. For long-term, strategic storage of seeds, special cold rooms are installed, where the temperature is constantly maintained at -18 degrees Celsius. In all these zones, the humidity level does not exceed the fifty percent mark, thus completely stopping the metabolic processes of the seeds.

The size of the rooms is absolutely flexible – from small one-room solutions for local research institutes to huge complexes for national gene pools. The structures use top-class thermal insulation materials, which not only save energy, but also protect valuable samples for a long time in the event of extreme power outages. An intelligent remote monitoring system guarantees that the storage parameters are archived and available for analysis every minute.
