• Clinical history:
  A 44-year-old man had a skin lesion on his back that had been growing slowly. When he visited the emergency department several years later, he complained of bone pain and had hepatomegaly and pleural effusion. He died shortly thereafter.
• Pathology:
  This specimen is a loop of small intestine mounted to expose the mesentery, which is filled with numerous small, dark brown, round nodules ranging in size from the size of a head to approximately 1 cm in diameter. Histology confirmed the diagnosis of metastatic melanoma.
