- A 56-year-old woman with a 6-month history of headaches and vomiting was admitted to the hospital in a coma after a grand mal seizure and did not recover.
- Pathology
- The specimen is a coronal section of the brain. It can be seen that the brain has been compressed laterally and downward on the right side by an enlarged intracranial mass, probably a meningioma.
- The original mass is no longer present. The anterior view shows displacement of the medial structures with subfalcate herniation of the cingulate gyrus.

- The presence of a glioma in the cranial cavity can be caused by pressure on the brain, which can lead to atrophy and displacement of brain tissue, resulting in disruption of cranial nerve function, blood flow, and normal brain function.
- General symptoms may include: muscle twitching, sensory changes.
