This modular practice model is a versatile tool for midwifery training. It was developed in collaboration with midwifery schools and provides training in all important skills. The interchangeable modules allow you to practice Leopold's maneuvers, breast care, vaginal examination of the birth process, different birth positions, birth simulation, episiotomy and post-puerperal examination. The model includes a heartbeat simulation. The special type of material makes the model feel like a real person and reacts realistically during training.
Devices that are included in the kit:
- Pregnancy module: This module has an amnion with a fetus (36-40 weeks of pregnancy), a heartbeat simulation and an abdomen with breasts. This module is suitable for Leopold maneuvers, palpation and heartbeat observation (volume and rhythm can be modified by the teacher). The amnion can be inserted in different ways to simulate different fetal positions in the uterus. In addition, the model can be used to teach breast care and breastfeeding. This module has been redesigned and is now made of a new material that is even more realistic to touch and feel.
- Stages of Labor Module: The Stages of Labor Module can be used to assess the Bishops score. Three different cervical stages and the fetal head can be inserted. The fetal head can be placed in various positions; the cranial bone joints and fontanelle can be palpated. All inserted elements can be rotated and modified. This module has been redesigned and is now made of a special soft and flexible material, making it even more realistic and natural to touch and feel.
- Obstetrics module: This module can be used to practice childbirth in all common birthing positions. It can be used to create a complete training theatre. The highly flexible vulva, made of a new highly dilatable material, reacts very realistically, providing an ideal opportunity to practice perineal protection. The fetal model is made of soft plastic, weighs 2.3 kg and is 42 cm long. The head circumference is 30 cm. The model can be used to practice initial examination and aspiration. A highly realistic umbilical cord and placenta complete the model. The umbilical cord can be cut and the cut area can be closed in advance. Birth can be demonstrated realistically in the breech position.
- Episiotomy Module: Interchangeable episiotomy inserts allow for training and practice in episiotomy sutures. Individual inserts can be reused if sutures are carefully removed.
- Post-puerperal module: Four different uterine insertions allow for post-puerperal palpation and measurements. The module has three normal uterine insertions (day one, three and five) and an abnormal uterus (day one). A belly with breasts is included for practicing breast care.
