The WE150 Kit is a portable and durable solution for researchers who need to assess moisture and salt conditions in soils and substrates.
This kit allows you to quickly measure three important variables that affect plant growth: moisture content, temperature*, and electrical conductivity (EC) – a strong overall indicator of nutrient levels.
*We recommend using the WE150 as a portable handheld sensor only in well-regulated environments where the air temperature does not differ significantly from the soil/substrate temperature.
Kit Contents
The kit consists of a WET150 sensor, a WET150 handheld meter and a case. The cables and connectors in the kit, when properly connected and crimped, are completely watertight. The handheld WET150 meter displays volumetric water content in percent and EC in millisiemens/meter.
The WET150 meter is a lightweight and easy-to-use read-only device (no data logging or other complications). Operation of the kit is simple – the user inserts the WET150 into the soil or substrate and presses the meter’s “Read” button to take and display a measurement.
The WET150 sensor comes with calibrations for mineral and organic soils, as well as coco, peat and mineral wool substrates.
Research Applications
The WE150 Kit can be used to accurately and reliably measure soil/moisture content. However, the measurement of electrical conductivity (ECp) makes it particularly suitable for horticultural research applications such as fertilization, precision irrigation and soil moisture monitoring.
