„LINSEIS Messgeraete LFA Laser Flash Analyzer
Laser flash analyzer characteristics:
- LINSEIS offers equipment for measuring thermal diffusion.
- LFA 500: Economical solution, -50 to 1100°C range.
- LFA 1000: High sample rate, modular design, two ovens and detectors.
- Upgrade options for temperature range and detectors.
- Works according to ASTM E-1461, DIN 30905 and DIN EN 821 standards.
- The thermal properties of extremely thin layers and films differ significantly from the properties of the corresponding bulk material, therefore a technique is needed that overcomes the limitations of the classical Laser Flash method: TF-LFA – High-Frequency Laser Flash Method.
- The measurement geometry can be the same as in the standard device method: the detector and laser are located on opposite sides of the samples.
- Since infrared detectors are too slow to measure thin layers, detection is done using the thermoreflectance method. The idea behind this technique is that when a material is heated, the reflectance of the surface changes, and this can be used to determine thermal properties.
- The reflectance is measured over time, and the resulting data is used to find a fitting model that contains coefficients that correspond to the thermal properties.
- There is a second possible configuration called „Front Heating / Front Detection” (FF). Unlike the conventional setup, the infrared detectors are located in the same location as the laser. This is useful for opaque substrates where the „RF (Rear Heating, Front Detection)” method does not work.
