Flame spread test device corresponds IMO FTPC PART 5 and ISO 5658-2 standards. It is intended for determining the flame spread characteristics of materials in the marine and railway industries.
The IMO specification provides for a heat release measurement system, including a collection hood and a calibration burner. The device consists of two main parts: radiant heating panel frame and specimen holder frame, and additional components that ensure accurate test results.
Radiant heating panel frame
- Made of square metal tubes, ensuring strength and stability.
- Integrated piping and control valves.
- Heating panel (480 mm x 280 mm) with a fiber mesh surface mounted on a stainless steel housing.
- The combustion gas mixture is made up of methane, natural gas or propane and air.
- Pressure regulators and shut-off valves for all burners.
- Integrated gas supply control with indicators and digital buttons.
Specimen holder frame
- Stainless steel construction with guide rails.
- Ceramic pilot burner supplying a gas/air mixture.
- Heat release measurement system with vertical smoke extraction duct.
Specimen holder
- Stainless steel specimen holders that meet the requirements of the standard.
- Quick-release clamps for easy specimen clamping.
Calibration system
- Calibration board with calcium silicate base.
- Water-cooled heat flux meter (0–5 W/cm²), calibrated and certified.
- Measurement data is transmitted to a data logging and software system.
Thermocouple conditioning unit
- Allows processing of thermocouple signals according to test standards.
