2. PREPARATION
• Apply Provox® Skin Barrier and wait 1-2 minutes for it to dry.
• If a stronger adhesive bond is required, apply Provox® Silicone Glue and wait 4 minutes for it to dry.
3. APPLICATION
• Warm the sticker by rubbing it between your hands for 1-2 minutes.
• Remove the adhesive part of the sticker from the non-adhesive backing.
• Fold the sticker as shown in the photo.
• Hold the bottom of the inner sticker ring against the lower edge of the stoma.
• Attach the sticker and its body so that it is in contact with the skin as much as possible.
• Smooth out wrinkles/remove bubbles by gently moving your fingers around and away from the center of the sticker – maximizing skin contact and gently removing wrinkles.
• If you have the opportunity, let the sticker adhesive set for about 20-30 minutes before speaking.
• If you are unable to wear the patch for more than 8 hours, consult your doctor. You may need a different type of patch than the one you are currently using.
For those who use a voice prosthesis, it is important to prevent air from escaping from the stoma under the sticker. The following tips will help extend the life of the sticker:
• Try not to speak too loudly.
• Remove the FILTER from the STICKER when you feel a cough coming on or when you start coughing.
• When removing the filter, hold the sticker with two fingers.
• After coughing, carefully remove any mucus between the patch and the skin.
4. REMOVAL
Proper skin care is important for long-term successful use of the stickers. If you have sensitive or irritated skin,
If you have dry skin, you may find the following tips helpful:
• The sticker must be removed carefully.
• To remove the Provox OptiDerm patch from the skin, use the Provox Adhesive Remover wipe. Moisten the edges of the patch with the wipe. Then clean under the peeled part of the patch and slowly peel the patch away from the skin.
• If you are using Provox FlexiDerm, XtraBase stickers or StabiliBase adhesive, first clean the surface of the sticker with the Provox Adhesive Remover wipe (as these stickers have pores that allow liquid to pass through), and then, while cleaning under the peeled part of the sticker, gradually peel the sticker off the skin.
• Some patients with very sensitive skin may experience skin irritation from skin protectors or adhesive removers. In this case, discontinue use of these products and consult a physician or dermatologist.
