- This manikin is designed specifically to teach the theory, anatomy, and skills required to manage pre-hospital chest trauma and continuous chest drainage care.
- On the right side of the mannequin, there are two cut-out viewing areas for understanding the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, muscles, ribs, and lungs.
- On the left side is the site of an impressive tension pneumothorax, designed to remove air that has accumulated in the pleural space and interferes with lung inflation.
- There is also a place where chest tubes can be surgically inserted to treat pleural effusion, a condition where fluid leaks from the pleural space. The instructor checks the color, volume, and viscosity of the fluid.
- The Chest Manikin is excellent for learning the concepts and mechanics of closed water junction drainage systems, such as Pleur-Evac type devices.
- The manikin comes with two visual chest tube care sites, five interchangeable surgical chest tube sites, five interchangeable pneumothorax chest pads, and a hard carrying case.
