GP2 Resource Center
In the Resource Center you will find extensive application information and tutorials - from irrigation management to transpiration, vapor pressure deficits and more.
Power and flexibility
The GP2 data logger has advanced control functionality, and complex programs can be easily created using a simple script editor.
As user needs change, the GP2 can adapt. An optional cover is available for additional cable entry points or larger diameter cable entries.
Construction with GP2 Data Logger
The GP2 is the ideal data logger for field work, with applications ranging from agronomy and meteorology to hydrology, ecophysiology and soil science. We can supply kits including sensors, housings, solar power and communication options.
The GP2 data logger is compatible with all Delta-T sensors. A separate input channel is provided for the Delta-T WET Sensor.
Delta-T has decades of experience in developing equipment for environmental research and can advise on all system specification issues.
Sensors
The GP2 Data Logger can record most sensor types and accepts voltage, resistance, current, potentiometer, counter, frequency and numeric status.
The GP2 analog input channels are fully customizable. Each channel can have its own input type and recording parameters. DeltaLINK software gives the user control over reading frequency, thresholds and units, as well as statistical recording options such as Average, Minimum, Maximum, Standard Deviation and more. Special wind options are available, including wind rose, vanes and wind average.
Users can add their own custom sensor types to the sensor library using GP2’s extensive configuration capabilities. GP2 provides 4 input ranges up to microwatt resolution with adaptive autoranging, excellent analog accuracy, and configurable sensor excitation – allowing support for virtually any analog sensor.
Calculations based on measurements from multiple input channels can be recorded and displayed as additional virtual channels (calculated measurements).
Utility
Simple point-and-click software makes it easy to set channels and recording intervals. Menus supporting advanced options can be shown or hidden as needed.
Sensor connections are presented logically with clear, easy-to-understand diagrams and observations.
The GP2's waterproof case, battery power, and convenient accessories make outdoor installation very easy - often without the need for an additional enclosure.
Simulator
This unique software allows you to test recording programs before they are actually activated. Using weather conditions, irrigation or soil moisture recordings, environmental variables can be changed to test how the program responds. Several years of recording time can be simulated in a matter of minutes.
Storage, communications and power
4 MB FLASH memory allows storage of 2.5 million records (typical). Data can be collected using a laptop directly via USB/RS232 or remotely using cellular modem options.
The GP2 has 6 internal lead-acid AA batteries as standard. An optional power adapter (type GP2-PSU) is available. Up to 7 GP2s can share power and communications using an M12 cable network system. GP1 Data Loggers can be integrated into such a network via an adapter cable.
SDI-12 capabilities
The GP2 Data Logger supports SDI-12 inputs as standard. GP2s supplied before March 2016 can be easily upgraded via software.
Main functions:
- Huge additional SDI-12 sensor input capacity
- Analogue and digital channels fully available
- Highly flexible data logger and sensor network system
Complete ASCE/FAO 56 Penman-Monteith transpiration equation calculation
Full ASCE/FAO 56 Penman-Monteith transpiration and evaporation equation calculation. Ability to use GP2 data logger and DeltaLINK software (version 3.7 and up) with appropriate sensors. Allows calculation of ASCE/FAO-56 Penman-Monteith equation defining reference transpiration and evaporation (ETo). ETo calculation is performed by GP2 data logger based on measurements of relative humidity, wind speed, solar radiation and air temperature. ETo calculation includes the ability to change crop albedo/LAI, hoof resistances, crop height and sensor height. This functionality is easily accessible to users as an optional recording option in DeltaLINK. Calculated ETo can be recorded as hourly and daily values which can be used for further individual calculations or to inform field irrigation decisions. This enhancement also applies to WS-GP2 weather station, an advanced research-grade system.
The GP2 data logger has a wide range of applications in environmental, agricultural and industrial fields:
- Gardening and watering
- Soil science
- Plant physiology
- Agronomy
- Climate research and meteorology
- Agriculture
- Lawns and gardens
- Environmental landscape design
- Ecology
- Field tests
- Eco-physiology
The function is easy to select for the user in the DeltaLINK system. The calculated ET can be recorded as hourly and daily values – and can be used for further individual calculations or specified
