KG 3D model of osteochondrosis<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Model: MP2118<\/li>\n<li>Clinical History:<br \/>\nA 61-year-old man with prostate cancer attends a preoperative evaluation prior to prostatectomy. He is initially well with no major complaints. On symptom review, it is noted that he has persistent pain in his right leg, which his family physician has diagnosed as osteoarthritis. A knee x-ray is ordered to rule out bone metastases from prostate carcinoma, which shows a tumor-like growth projecting from the medial aspect of the distal right thigh. He has prostatectomy but later dies of a postoperative pulmonary embolism.<\/li>\n<li>Pathology:<br \/>\nThe specimen is the bottom of the patient&#039;s right femur, incised with a crowned plate to show the external surfaces. A 2 cm long, trunk-shaped bony protrusion is present 7 cm superiorly from the medial aspect of the right femur shaft. The projection consists of normal bone with a thin hyaline cartilage cap at the end. This is an example of an osteochondroma.<\/li>\n<li>Additional Information:<br \/>\nOsteochondroma (or exostosis) is a benign cartilaginous tumor. They form a cartilaginous bony protrusion from the outer surface of the bone from which they arise.
