KG 3D model of acute bacterial endocarditis<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Model Number: MP2041<\/li>\n<li>Clinical history:<br \/>\nA 15-year-old boy who had a cough and phlegm developed a febrile (herpetic) fever and chest pain a few days before going into a coma. Examination revealed an early diastolic shunt in the aortic area that radiated to the left sternal border. He deteriorated rapidly and died despite antibiotic chemotherapy. Blood cultures showed Staphylococcus aureus.<\/li>\n<li>Pathology:<br \/>\nThe heart is small, showing the left ventricle and its associated valves. The non-sergeant stem of the aortic valve is ulcerated and perforated, with purulent lesions attached to it. At the same time, there is a hole under this stem extending into the right atrium just above the tricuspid valve (see end of bill). The other aortic cuspis is also engorged. This is acute bacterial endocarditis with aortic valve and atrioventricular holes.<\/li>\n<li>Additional information:<br \/>\nAcute bacterial endocarditis is a form of infective endocarditis.
